My daughter does not like bugs at all. She is so afraid of bees and basically anything that buzzes or flies. My husband is very allergic to bees and I think he has played a big part in making her afraid of them for that reason. My daughter has not been stung yet and I am really afraid that she might be allergic too. We have a lot of wild flowers that grow in our yard so if the grass isn't cut short then our yard is full of bees and other flying insects and my daughter will not go outside. With all the rain we have received this year the grass was growing so fast that you had to cut the grass every 3 days to keep the bugs away. We have a large yard and cutting the grass that often was too much. Most of the time I would end up taking her outside after the sun would go down and the bees went away but then the mosquitoes would come out so then I would have to spray her down with bug spray and it didn't always work too well. I knew that there had to be a better option to resolve the problem.
I started searching the internet and found many different options. I came across a website that sells insect protection clothing which I thought would be a perfect. I contacted the company, Skeeta and they sent my daughter a child-sized, extra small bug suit for her to try out. She was sent the Skeeta Designer Jacket and the Designer pants. The suit was a little big on her but they are purposely made larger to help cover your entire body and keep the bugs off. I always have trouble finding pants that fit my daughter's waist and I was so happy that they actually fit her with the attached drawstring cord. The legs of the pants are made long with velcro at the bottom so that your feet stay covered and protected but you can always open them if you don't want your feet covered up. The jacket has extra long sleeves with velcro at the end so that you can keep your hands covered. You can always roll up the sleeves if you don't want your hands covered just like the pants. The jacket also features a hood to pull over the top of your head, even while wearing a hat. If you don't want the hood on your head, the hood opens up completely so that you can roll it down to make a collar.
My daughter loves her bug suit. She looks so cute in it and I know that she feels much safer with it on and can finally enjoy the outdoors now. The suit is very light weight and both products fold up easily into a storage pouch. When the jacket is reversed, a belt with a buckle is revealed to fasten around your waist. You can also store the pants pouch in with the jacket waist pack which I think is very convenient. This bug suit would be wonderful to have when going camping, hiking, fishing, or if you are like my daughter you can wear it anywhere there are bugs. Another feature I like about the jacket is that when it is being worn the pouch you use to store it in serves as a front pocket so that while wearing it you can carry supplies (phone, keys, flashlight) in it. The pants feature a pocket on the back and then you just reverse the pants and fold them up into a pouch to store them.
The jacket looks a little larger than it actually is in the photo above and it can be adjusted to fit better by tightening the drawstring at the bottom of the jacket. My daughter is only four and she is small framed anyways so I was really surprised that I was able to adjust it to fit. I love that it is made big and is adjustable so that she will be able to wear it for a long time.
