Our family was recently given the opportunity to review the Make a Plate Art Project from Makit. We were allowed to make up to 3 plates free of charge. It was a lot of fun and a great way to spend time together as a family. The kit that we received came with 25 templates to draw out our designs on and washable markers to draw our designs on the templates. It also included a certificate to redeem our pre-paid plates, return envelope, order form, rush label and instructions.
There were basically 4 important rules that you must follow to insure a good outcome of your plate design.
1. Use Only Washable Markers
2. No important names or dates near the edge of the paper.
3. Color on, Only One Side, of the paper.
4. Keep hands and work area clean.
Below is a photo of the kit when it first arrived.
We enjoy doing crafts together as a family and I would recommend this kit to anyone else that enjoys doing crafts, drawing, or looking to make a one of a kind gift for someone. These plates are great keepsakes. My daughter designed her own fun plate then we decided to make one to use for, Cookie's for Santa. Our last plate we made was for my nephew for his 1st Christmas keepsake. We had so much fun making these plates, I am not a good artist but I still had fun trying. My husband can draw very well and I think my daughter is going to take after him because she can draw great for her age. Below is a few photos of us in the process of creating our plate templates. My daughter did some scribbling on her first designs but she was having fun and that's all that matters. Her finished design was really cute.
We sent our templates off and within no time our finished plates arrived. I was so anxious to see them. I finally opened the package and I was really surprised how great they turned out. They are very sturdy and are made of a break-resistant melamine. They are also BPA-free and dishwasher safe but they are not safe for the microwave. Each plate measures 10" in diameter. Check out the photos of our finished plates below.
My daughter had to eat off of hers as soon as we opened it, (we washed it first). She loves her plate and she can not wait to use the Christmas plate for Santa. MakIt has many other products to choose from and personalize such as mugs, tumblers, bowls and more.
