My husband loves sports, especially football. He loves to watch it, play it, go to the game and loves anything else that has to do with sports. When he does get the opportunity to go to a game he loves to tailgate before the game, grilling and playing games with his friends. When I told him about a new game I came across that would be perfect for tailgating he couldn't wait to try it out. Flick Football is a fun portable football game that is not only great for tailgating but is fun to play at parties to keep everyone entertained.
We are always hosting parties at our house and to keep our guests entertained we usually play corn hole which is an outdoor game so if it rains we are stuck in the house with not much to do. With Flick Football you can play it outdoors but you can also play it indoors as well which is perfect for rainy days. My husband and I enjoy playing it together with just us and my daughter of course. She is a little too young for it but she is actually getting pretty good at flicking the ball. I'm not that great either but I enjoy playing it and spending time with my family. My husband has already mastered it and he can't wait till our next party so he can show off his skills.
Flick Football comes with a Goal Post/End Zone, 6ft Playing Field and a Football. It is very easy to assemble. Most of the Flick Football game rules are the same as real football but you can alter them to your liking, (just let all the players know the changes). So basically the playing field is where the game is played, the ball is used to kick/flick for points and the goal post is where the ball must travel through to make a field goal. A field goal is worth 3 points, a touch down is worth 6. If a player gets a touchdown then they will attempt and extra point (worth 1 point).
There are 5 different games you can play with this product. Choose which game you would like to play, make any changes you would like. Next flip a coin to see who goes first. Then have fun!!!
1. Field Goal Football (requires one or more dice)
Note: Using 1 dice makes the game move slower, using more than one dice makes the game move faster) This game requires each player to have something that marks their position on the field at all times during the game. The numbers on the die/dice represent yards. Each player gets 4 downs or 3 downs and 1 kick/flick per turn, unless a first down is achieved. A player does not have to attempt a field goal during their turn, except when they reach the 20 yard line at the goal end of the field on any given down during their turn. Players can attempt a field goal on any down during their turn. However, if a player makes or misses a goal (regardless of what down they are on) they return to the 20 yard line (starting point) and await their next turn.
2. Longest Field Goal - (This is what we have been playing)
Each player starts at the 20 yard line and is allowed 2 attempts to make a field goal. If a field goal is made on the first or second try that player moves on to the next round (ten yards back), if a player misses on both attempts they are out. The game continues until there is only 1 player left. If 2 or more players reach the end of the field tied then there is a sudden death playoff, 1 attempt each until someone misses.
3. Game Day Football
(2 players or teams of players)
Pick a game on TV then decide who has what team. Each time your team attempts a field goal or extra point you make the same attempt. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. If there is a tie play longest kick/flick sudden death to determine a winner.
4. Speed Field Goal
Players have a given time period to make as many field goals as they can. Pick a point on the field from which all the players will play from. Decide the amount of time that all players will have to make as many field goals as they can. Set a timer for the allotted amount of time. When a player is ready, start the clock. (This game plays best with additional footballs).
5. Pro Football (requires one or more dice)
Note: Using 1 die makes the game move slower, use more than one and the game moves faster. All the rules for the Field Goal Football will apply to this version, with the addition of a chance to make a touchdown. A player only needs to roll enough yards during their turn to cross the goal line by 1 yard to make a touch down. After a touchdown the player has a chance to kick/flick an extra point from the 20 yard line.
*To make it more difficult they suggest adding an oscillating fan to create swirling winds just like the conditions players face in real football.
(I actually caught my husband making a goal in the photo)
